TIU Organizes A National Workshop in Observance of World Pharmacist Day
On September 25th, 2024, the Faculty of Pharmacy at Tishk International University organized national workshop in commemoration of World Pharmacist Day, centred on the theme “Global Health Needs.” The event began with an inaugural address by Prof. Dr. Sultan Abu Orabi, President of Tishk International University, succeeded by comments from Dr. Abdulsamad, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, who emphasised the notable accomplishment of the pharmacy program’s accreditation by the European agency AHPGS.
The workshop included a series of enlightening presentations by our esteemed speakers. Dr. Shajwan Salar commenced the inaugural session titled “In-depth discourse on global health, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the pressing concern of antimicrobial resistance.” Subsequently, Dr. Alan Ryadh delivered a presentation that outlined the pharmacy profession, emphasising clinical pharmacy practice. The concluding speaker was Dr. Marwan Qasim, who addressed the role of community pharmacy within the medical community. Following a brief interval, competitive events were conducted, showcasing teams from different levels of pharmacy students.
This workshop commemorated World Pharmacist Day while facilitating significant discussions on global health challenges and the essential role of chemists in healthcare. The event effectively emphasised the importance of collaboration and knowledge sharing within the pharmacy community through informative presentations and interactive activities. The event was concluded by Dr. Mohammed Javed Naim, Head of the Pharmacy Department, who conveyed his appreciation to the organisers, speakers, sponsors, and volunteers for their contributions to the workshop’s success.
