ASIIN Online Visit for Medical Analysis and Nursing Programs Accreditation

As a part of the Program Accreditation Procedure for Medical Analysis and Nursing Programs (MECH & NURS) at Tishk International University (TIU), an expert team conducted an online visit on 28-29 November and 1st December 2022.

The journey started by signing a contract with ASIIN, a German accreditation agency specialised in accrediting degree programs from the fields of engineering, informatics/computer science, the natural sciences and mathematics at bachelor, Maser and PhD levels. ASSIN is a leading national and international accreditation body in the accreditation of programmes and has accreted more than 5519 study programs in more than 294 institutions in 43 countries worldwide.

Following the contract signing and agreement, a self-evaluation report was prepared, addressing many major aspects of the educational system, such as the program’s content, program organisation, management and resources, student support, staff support, quality management, internationalisation, and others. Besides the report, additional material was also prepared and submitted to the Peer Review Panel and a Virtual Base Room for records inspection.

The documentation preparation was followed by an online visit which aimed at assessing the accuracy of the Self Study, evaluating the effectiveness of the program, and suggesting recommendations to assist MED & NURS in continued improvement. The experts had a professional and distinguished performance. They showed much knowledge and expertise during the visit. The Peer Review Panel included Prof. Dr. Oliver Mueller, University of Applied Sciences Kaiserslautern, Dr. Amir Mohsenpour, Medical Doctor at Kassel, and Jonas Guenther, Student at the University of Cologne. The visit was coordinated by Dr. Andrea Karen, a Project Manager at ASIIN.

During the visit, six meetings were held, and the team interviewed the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, the Head of MECH Department, the teaching and research staff at MECH, several students and alumni, market partners, and representatives of the TIU Presidency.
TIU, and particularly MED & NURS, look forward to implementing the experts’ suggestions and to taking the necessary actions to address the highlighted weak points. We are confident this will improve and streamline the quality of education and research in the programs.

International Accreditation brings a wide variety of benefits to both students and institutions by; raising the university’s learning and teaching profile and demonstrating to students a measurable commitment to the quality of teaching. The methods and criteria of evaluation applied by ASIIN are rooted in the common European Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in Higher Education. ASIIN is s a member of The European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA) and the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education (EQAR).
