ASIIN Site-Visit for Mechatronics Engineering Program Accreditation

As a part of the Program Accreditation Procedure for the Mechatronics Engineering Bachelor Program (MECH) at Tishk International University (TIU), an expert team conducted a site visit to TIU on 30th November and 1st December 2022. The journey began by signing a contract with ASIIN; a German accreditation agency specialising in accrediting degree programs from engineering, informatics/computer science, natural sciences and mathematics at Bachelor, Master and PhD levels. ASIIN is a leading national and international accreditation body and has accreted more than 5519 study programs in more than 294 institutions in 43 countries worldwide.

The contract was followed by preparing a self-evaluation report which addressed many major aspects of the educational system, such as the program’s content, program organisation, management and resources, student support, staff support, quality management, internationalisation, and others. Besides the report, additional supplementary material was prepared and submitted to the Peer Review Panel and a base room for records inspection.

The documentation preparation was followed by a site visit which aimed at assessing the accuracy of the self-study, evaluating the program’s effectiveness, and suggesting recommendations to assist MECH in continued improvement. The experts had a professional and distinguished performance, showing much knowledge and expertise during the visit. The Peer Review Panel included Dr. Iring Wasser, the Managing Director of ASIIN, and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Christoph Rappl, Deggendorf Institute of Technology, Prof. Dr. sc. techn. Harald Loose, Brandenburg University of Applied Sciences, Eng. Huner Majeed, Cihan Motors, and Sufyan Muhammed Abid, Student at the University of Mosul.
During the visit, six meetings were held, in which the team interviewed the Dean of Engineering Faculty, the Head of the MECH Department, the teaching and research staff at MECH, several students and alumni, market partners, and representatives of the TIU Presidency.

TIU, and particularly MECH, looks forward to implementing the experts’ suggestions and taking the necessary actions to address the weak points they addressed. We are certain this will improve and streamline the quality of education and research in MECH.
International Accreditation brings a wide variety of benefits to both students and institutions by; raising the profile of learning and teaching of the university and demonstrating to students a measurable commitment to the quality of teaching.

The methods and criteria of evaluation applied by ASIIN are rooted in the common European Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in Higher Education. ASIIN is s a member of The European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA) and the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education (EQAR).
