Egg Protection Device Competition
ACI TIU Student Chapter, in collaboration with ACI UoR Student Chapter, organized an Egg Protection Device Competition that brought together civil engineering students from four different universities in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, including the University of Salahadin, Koya University, the University of Raparin, and Tishk International University (TIU). The event was held on March 7th, 2023, at Tishk International University’s Erbil campus.
The competition’s main objective was to provide students with a platform to showcase their innovative engineering skills by designing and building a device that can protect an egg from breaking after being dropped from a height. The event was supervised by the ACI Kurdistan Chapter, and a committee of judges was assigned by the Local ACI Chapter to evaluate the students’ devices based on various parameters such as design, functionality, and effectiveness.
The event witnessed active participation from students who displayed exceptional creativity and engineering skills to build egg protection devices that could withstand the impact of being dropped from a considerable height. The first prize was awarded to the students at TIU, while two-second prizes were shared by TIU and the University of Raparin. Additionally, three winners were selected from among the participants from three universities, which were Salahadin University, Raparin University, and Koya University.
The event was not only a fun and exciting way for students to apply their engineering skills, but it also provided a valuable learning opportunity for them to work collaboratively with peers from other universities and develop essential soft skills such as teamwork, communication, and problem-solving.
Overall, the egg protection device competition organized by the ACI TIU Student Chapter and ACI UoR Student Chapter was a resounding success and fulfilled its objective of promoting innovation, collaboration, and creativity among civil engineering students.
