Kurdistan-Jordan Higher Education Forum Cultivates Academic Collaboration

The inauguration of the Kurdistan-Jordan Higher Education Forum was graced by the Minister of Higher Education and came in the esteemed patronage of the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government. The event, which took place on May 5th, 2024, signifies a pivotal moment in the scholarly partnership between Jordan and the Kurdistan Region.

Inaugurated in the presence of ministers, government officials, and university presidents from both regions, the forum was established to foster cooperation and dialogue in the field of higher education. Prominent attendees at the event included Academic Affairs Vice President Assist. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ozdemir, Head of the Board of Trustees, and President of Tishk International University, Prof. Dr. Sultan Abu Orabi.

The forum witnessed the participation of twenty-one universities coming from Jordan and the Kurdistan Region, demonstrating a profound dedication to fostering academic collaboration and promoting the progress of tertiary education in both areas. The forum witnessed a diverse range of discussions and presentations, encompassing academic cooperation, research collaboration, joint academic projects, and student exchange programmes.

Tishk International University (TIU) participated in the Forum in Erbil with great pride as a major contributor. By actively participating as a partner, TIU contributed to collaborative dialogues with the objective of promoting regional educational initiatives and furthering academic cooperation. TIU utilised the forum’s lively discussions to reaffirm its dedication to excellence through the signing of substantial joint Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with prestigious participating institutions.

The Kurdistan-Jordan Higher Education Forum serves as a tangible manifestation of the regions’ mutual commitment to promoting academic excellence and global cooperation. It is anticipated that as the forum advances, a stronger and more productive academic partnership will develop between Jordan and the Kurdistan Region, which will be to the benefit of institutions, faculty, and students.
