Participants of the Training Program for Energy Support Auditors Compliant with the Specification (ISO 50001:2018) Visit TIU

Participants of the training program for energy support auditors compliant with the specification (ISO 50001:2018) visited Tishk International University (TIU) as part of the qualitative training program aimed at qualifying energy support auditors held in Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq. The National Office for Consulting, Training, Administrative Management, and Computer Technology, headed by Dr. Lebanon Hatif Al-Shami, Director of the Office, organized this practical field visit in coordination with TIU to participate in the specialized training program for preparing and qualifying energy support auditors in Iraq according to the specification (ISO 50001:2018). This program involved a large number of personnel from various state ministries working in the fields of quality and energy auditing. This program is part of a series of similar training initiatives directed by the central team of the Iraqi National Initiative for Energy Support and Emission Reduction, implemented collaboratively by the Ministries of Electricity, Environment, and Oil, in addition to the Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, Secretariat (Amanat) of Baghdad, and the Office of the HE Federal Prime Minister. 

This program is sponsored by the Ministry of Oil, Department of Training and Development, with support from the Middle Oil Company and the Chinese oil company (E B S). 

The field visit was organized under the supervision and attention of the university’s Board of Trustees Chairman, Professor Dr. Idris Hadi, and the University President, Professor Dr. Sultan Abu Orabi. The participants were welcomed by Dr. Mohammad Ozdemir, Assistant President of the University, and Dr. Wasfi Kahwachi, General Director of the University’s Research Center. They were greeted warmly and given a tour of the university’s esteemed and leading facilities in Iraq. The participants toured the university’s facilities, departments, faculties, lecture halls, laboratories, advanced equipment, and learned about its scientific development, as well as the green zones spread throughout the university campus. The university’s commitment to students with special needs, providing all necessary support for them, was also highlighted. 

Subsequently, the participants attended a scientific lecture by Dr. Wasfi Kahwachi on quality standards and ISOs adopted by the university. He pointed out the modernity, robustness, and cultural relations of the university’s faculties and departments with Arab, regional, and international universities, noting how it has achieved top rankings in international classifications of private universities across Iraq and rankings by the federal Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, where it ranked fifth among public and private universities in Iraq. 

At the end of the visit, all participants expressed their admiration for the university’s significant achievements in obtaining international program accreditation, institutional international accreditation, as well as ISO certifications (ISO 9001:2008, ISO 9001:2015, ISO 21001:2018) and its continuous efforts to achieve ISO certification for laboratories (ISO 17025). They expressed their gratitude for the opportunity provided by Tishk International University to witness pioneering experiences of a distinguished Iraqi university striving to reach the ranks of global universities. University plaques were presented to the participants. 

Towards the end, Dr. Lebanon Hatif Al-Shami delivered a speech expressing his thanks and appreciation for the warm reception and hospitality, and he expressed great admiration for the university’s significant achievements in various areas, including international accreditation and ISO certifications.
