On 20 May 2026, Tishk International University (TIU), in cooperation with the Royal Thai Embassy in Amman, successfully organized the Thailand Corner Competition at Ibn Sina Hall. The event was organized by the Dean of Students’ office and aimed to strengthen cultural understanding and enhance students’ knowledge of Thailand, its traditions, educational opportunities, and international relations.

The program began with the national anthems of Iraq, the Kurdistan Region, and Thailand, followed by promotional videos introducing Tishk International University, the Kurdistan Region, and Thailand. The event was attended by Assistant Professor Dr. Idris Hadi, Head of the Board of Trustees of Tishk International University, along with university officials, academic staff, and students. Dr. Idris Hadi participated in the opening ceremony of the Thailand Corner.

A recorded video message was delivered by Her Excellency Mrs. Jirapon Jirampaikool, Ambassador of Thailand, highlighting the importance of educational and cultural cooperation between Thailand and Iraq. The ceremony also included a plaque exchange between representatives of the Royal Thai Embassy and Tishk International University.

As part of the competition, thirty-five student groups participated and prepared presentations on various aspects of Thailand. Following an initial evaluation process, seven finalist groups were selected and appreciated for their outstanding work before the judging committee and audience. The presentations showcased students’ research, creativity, and understanding of Thai culture, history, tourism, and education.

The Thailand Corner Competition provided students with a valuable opportunity to develop their presentation skills, broaden their international perspectives, and strengthen cultural ties between Thailand and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
