TIU Delegation Visits Hungarian Consulate General in Erbil to Strengthen Academic and International Cooperation

A high-level delegation from Tishk International University (TIU), led by Assist. Prof. Dr. Idris Hadi Salih, Head of the Board of Trustees, Prof. Dr. Sultan T. Abu-Orabi, President of Tishk International University, and Mr. Dana Shamsaddin, Director of the International Relations Office, paid an official visit to the Consulate General of Hungary in Erbil on September 6, 2026.

The delegation was warmly received by Ms. Dominika Kovács, Acting Ambassador of Hungary to Iraq and Acting Consul General of the Consulate General of Hungary in Erbil. The meeting provided an important platform for discussing opportunities to further strengthen academic, cultural, and institutional cooperation between Tishk International University and Hungarian higher education institutions.

During the meeting, the TIU delegation reaffirmed the University’s commitment to strengthening its international partnerships and expressed its pleasure in sponsoring the Hungarian National Day Reception scheduled to take place on October 22, 2026. The discussions also focused on expanding academic relations between Tishk International University and Hungarian universities, with particular emphasis on developing new partnerships while further strengthening existing collaborations. The parties highlighted the importance of enhancing cooperation in areas such as academic exchange, research collaboration, student and faculty mobility, joint academic initiatives, and other opportunities within the field of higher education.

In this regard, the existing relationship between TIU and the University of Pécs was also highlighted as an important foundation for further academic cooperation and the development of broader institutional links between TIU and Hungarian universities.

Ms. Dominika Kovács emphasized the Consulate General of Hungary’s commitment to supporting and facilitating stronger relations between Tishk International University and Hungarian universities. She noted that the Consulate is keen to share available opportunities in higher education and to support initiatives that can contribute to expanding academic cooperation between institutions in Hungary and TIU.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to exploring further opportunities for collaboration and strengthening the longstanding and emerging academic ties between Tishk International University and Hungarian higher education institutions.
