Prof. Dr. Sultan Abu-Orabi Represents Tishk International University at ICABE 2026 in Malta

Prof. Dr. Sultan Abu-Orabi, President of Tishk International University (TIU), participated virtually in the 22nd International Conference on Applied Business and Economics (ICABE 2026), held from 22–24 September 2026 at the University of Malta, Valletta, Malta. The conference brings together academics, researchers, and university leaders around the main theme “Smart Economies and Adaptive Enterprises: AI, Innovation, Digital Assets, Decentralization, and Risks at the Crossroads of Global Change.”

Prof. Dr. Sultan Abu-Orabi was among the distinguished university leaders delivering opening addresses at the conference. The official programme lists him alongside rectors and senior academic leaders from universities in Malta, Poland, Romania, Kosovo, Kuwait, Greece, and the United States.

In his address, Prof. Dr. Sultan introduced Tishk International University, highlighting its development and contribution to higher education in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. He noted that TIU was established in 2008 to serve the region and has grown into a comprehensive institution with eight faculties and 36 academic departments, serving approximately 6,000 students with a community of 500 academic staff representing 15 countries.

He further emphasized TIU’s commitment to international academic standards, noting that its academic programmes are accredited by international agencies. He also highlighted the university’s strong standing in international university rankings, particularly its position among private universities in Iraq and universities in the Kurdistan Region.

Reflecting TIU’s commitment to internationalization and academic collaboration, Prof. Dr. Sultan noted that each faculty is encouraged to organize at least one international conference annually. In this context, he extended an invitation to the ICABE organizing committee to consider Erbil as the host city for a future edition of the conference, emphasizing the city’s suitability and accessibility for hosting an international academic event.

Concluding his remarks, Prof. Dr. Sultan congratulated the organizers and participants, wishing the conference a successful and fruitful programme in Malta and encouraging participants to enjoy the cultural and natural beauty of the island.

The participation of the President of Tishk International University in ICABE 2026 further reflects TIU’s commitment to international academic engagement, institutional cooperation, research exchange, and the advancement of higher education through global partnerships.
