Erbil, Kurdistan Region – December 3, 2025

Tishk International University proudly hosted the Majaz Awards Distribution Ceremony at its main campus in Erbil. Majaz represents the first cycle of a national competition dedicated to showcasing exceptional architecture graduation projects from universities across Iraq. TIU served as the main partner, with the Faculty of Engineering — including the Architecture Department and the Interior Design Engineering Department — providing full academic and organizational support.


Nationwide Participation

This year’s competition drew significant nationwide attention, with 100 graduating students submitting their projects from leading Iraqi universities, including:

  • University of Baghdad

  • University of Technology – Baghdad

  • Koya University

  • Wasit University

  • University of Basrah

  • University of Mosul

  • University of Duhok

  • University of Babylon

  • Al-Nahrain University

  • University of Diyala

The event also featured a discussion panel addressing key themes in architectural education, innovation, and design practice in Iraq. Students, academics, and architects participated actively, creating a constructive platform for knowledge sharing and professional development.


Awards and Recognition

The following prizes were awarded to the top projects:

  • 1st Place: 3,000,000 IQD

  • 2nd Place: 2,000,000 IQD

  • 3rd Place: 1,000,000 IQD

Furthermore, seven projects received Honorable Mentions, and eight others were shortlisted. All recognized students and their supervisors received plaques and certificates in appreciation of their contributions.

This event directly supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) . By providing a national platform for graduating architecture students to present their work, receive expert feedback, and compete at a high academic level, TIU contributes to enhancing educational quality, promoting equal opportunities, and encouraging creativity and innovation across Iraq’s higher education sector.
