Tishk International University organized the “Taste for Change” fundraising event on May 11, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM as part of the Interpersonal Dynamics and Character Building Course (IDCB), supervised by the Dean of Students.

The event was officially inaugurated by Asst. Prof. Dr. Idris Hadi Salih, Head of the Board of Trustees, and Prof. Dr. Sultan T. Abu-Orabi, President of TIU, alongside the university’s Vice Presidents and Deans. Their participation reflected the university’s strong commitment to encouraging students to actively contribute to society through meaningful and sustainable initiatives.

Students from four faculties participated in the event, representing more than 40 student-led community projects aimed at supporting society, raising awareness about important social issues, and encouraging positive community engagement.

The program featured a food fundraising activity in addition to student project presentations. Beyond raising financial support for their initiatives, the event provided students with valuable opportunities to strengthen their interpersonal and professional skills, including teamwork, communication, leadership, responsibility, creativity, problem-solving, and social engagement. Students also connected their project ideas to the broader framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The projects focused on several important sustainability themes, including health and well-being, quality education, reduced inequalities, sustainable communities, responsible consumption, environmental awareness, community service, and partnerships for development. These themes enabled students to better understand how local initiatives can contribute to sustainable development and create meaningful social impact.

Through these initiatives, students enhanced their awareness of social responsibility while developing practical solutions to challenges facing their communities. The event also strengthened collaboration among students, faculty members, university leadership, and the wider university community.

As a result of the fundraising activity, students secured support for their community projects and gained firsthand experience in planning, organizing, presenting, and serving their communities. The event demonstrated that even small actions can create a meaningful impact on society.

The “Taste for Change” event reflects Tishk International University’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, student empowerment, community engagement, and values-based education. It also highlighted how extracurricular and experiential learning opportunities can positively shape students into active, responsible, and socially conscious members of society.
