TIU Academics Honoured for Outstanding Patent Achievements
Tishk International University is proud to announce that four of its distinguished academics were among the university faculty members from across the Kurdistan Region honoured by the Kurdistan Regional Government’s Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research for obtaining scientific patents.
The honoured academics from Tishk International University were Asst. Prof. Dr. Idris Hadi, Head of the Board of Trustees; Asst. Prof. Dr. Abdulsamad Salahuddin, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy; Prof. Dr. Faiq Hussain, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Science; and Dr. Esra Tariq, Assistant Lecturer at the Faculty of Pharmacy.
The recognition took place during a special ceremony held on Monday, June 22, 2026, at the Ceremonial Hall of Erbil Polytechnic University. During the event, Dr. Aram Mohammad Qadir, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, presented certificates of appreciation to the recipients. The ceremony was attended by university presidents, advisors, directors-general, researchers, and academic staff from across the region.
In his address, Minister Dr. Aram Mohammad Qadir described the achievements as a source of great pride for the Ministry and universities, highlighting them as evidence of the region’s strong capacity for scientific research, innovation, and knowledge production. He also emphasized the importance of collective efforts by universities, the academic community, civil society, and political stakeholders to further strengthen university autonomy, including financial, administrative, institutional, and academic independence, as a foundation for democratic values and institutional effectiveness.
Dr. Zhala Saeed Khatat, Director-General of the Research and Development Office, also addressed the ceremony. She commended the Ministry’s efforts in recognizing academics who have obtained scientific patents and reaffirmed the importance of encouraging faculty members to pursue innovation, develop their intellectual capacities, and share their scientific achievements with students across Kurdistan’s universities.
This recognition reflects Tishk International University’s unwavering commitment to advancing scientific research and fostering a culture of innovation that contributes to the development of society and the Kurdistan Region. The university extends its heartfelt congratulations to the honoured academics and wishes them continued success in their future research endeavours.
This achievement supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, by promoting research, innovation, and scientific excellence.
