A delegation from Tishk International University, including Asst. Prof. Dr. Idris Hadi Salih, Head of the Board of Trustees, Professor Dr. Sultan Tawfiq Abu-Orabi, President of Tishk International University, and Prof. Dr. Ahmed Anwer Dezaye, president of Knowledge University, was invited to Yarmouk University in Jordan on August 12^th 2026 to participate in a special academic event commemorating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Yarmouk University.

The event was hosted by the Samir Al-Rifai Chair for Jordanian Studies and focused on the life, legacy, and contributions of the late His Excellency Zaid Samir Al-Rifai, former Prime Minister of Jordan and former Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Yarmouk University, as well as a discussion of a book documenting his life and achievements.

The event brought together prominent Jordanian political and academic figures. Four distinguished speakers addressed the gathering: His Excellency Nayef Al-Qadi, former Deputy Prime Minister and former Minister of Interior; His Excellency Nasser Judeh, former Deputy Prime Minister and former Minister of Foreign Affairs; Professor Dr. Sultan Tawfiq Abu-Orabi, President of Tishk International University and former President of Yarmouk University; and Dr. Hind Abu Al-Shaab, Member of the Jordanian Senate. In addition, with Prof. Dr. Mohamad Anagrah, the Chairman of the Samir Al-Rifai, Chair for Jordanian Studies.

In his speech, Professor Dr. Sultan Tawfiq Abu-Orabi highlighted the significant developments, achievements, and academic progress witnessed by Yarmouk University during the tenure of the late Zaid Al-Rifai. He reflected on the university’s institutional development and the important role played by its leadership in strengthening its academic standing and contribution to higher education.

The participation of Tishk International University’s senior leadership in this distinguished academic gathering reflects the University’s strong commitment to international academic cooperation, knowledge exchange, and strengthening its relationships with leading universities and academic institutions in the region.

The event also provided an important opportunity to celebrate Yarmouk University’s five decades of academic service and to recognize the enduring contributions of prominent figures who played significant roles in the development of Jordanian higher education.
